Gene Rump's Fundraiser

We can increase food security in Bayview, achieve sustainability in a community gathering place, and create equity in open space.
Join us at LEJ to expand our roots and help grow the Native Plant Nursery and Community Garden!
We've launched the Expanding Our Roots campaign in support of the Community Garden and Nursery Expansion project that breaks ground at LEJ in January!
We’ve raised over 1 million dollars so far and we need about $200,000 more to bring the project to completion by June of 2021. Your support will help to ensure that Bayview residents have access to garden plots, community gathering areas, green-collar jobs, and community-stewarded open space at Candlestick, California’s first urban State Park.
LEJ is growing and rebuilding to meet the need for increased food security, greater environmental sustainability, and regenerated public lands. The demand for native plants in Southeast San Francisco is growing rapidly to fortify shoreline flood defense, build habitat to protect flora and wildlife, sequester greenhouse gases and mitigate pollution, and beautify public open space with drought-tolerant plants. LEJ’s young adult Eco-Apprentices will be doing about 30% of the work on this project, earning a living wage while learning valuable skills toward building careers in the environmental field! Find out more about our Community Garden and Nursery Expansion project.
As you send your donations this year, please consider making a gift to LEJ to support this capstone project and move the needle forward in our work toward equity in open space and environmental justice for underrepresented communities in Bayview Hunters Point.
